So much for the public option. They traded it away, and the Dems are going to suffer for it.
They're going to suffer in the eyes of history, since this will ultimately be recorded as the biggest give-away to the very corporations that created the problem since, well, a year ago. They're going to suffer in the election booth, since Democrats have proven that they couldn't give a damn about their base if they tried, and independents do not carry mid-term elections.
But, mostly, they're going to suffer because they're Americans, and all of America is going to suffer for this.
On the bright side, now that the Republicans know that they can get away with whatever they want as long as they're oppositional, action on climate change is probably dead too. So health care may not be an issue, since catastrophic climate change may make the whole point moot. Goodie.
In any case, obviously, the "work for primary opponents and don't donate a damn dime" rule is very much in effect. It's high time to bring the temple down on their heads. They couldn't care less about you, so it's only fair to pay them back in kind.
